Genuine All-Region Disney DVD

There seems to be a lot of debate over the existence of GENUINE Disney DVDs that are All-Region, so I wish to settle this arguement once and for all.

YES, There really are GENUINE Disney DVDs that are ALL-REGION. I have one in my collection, and the image shown here is of a Genuine Import for sale on Amazon.com, click the link to see for yourself.

I know that All-Region is usually associated with copies, and it’s true that almost all copies are all-Region, but being All-Region DOES NOT make a DVD a counterfeit.

I have a “Bridge to Terabithia” Disney DVD in my collection that is All-Region, I bought it myself from a proper shop that would never sell copies, and I checked it out with the authorised distributor.

So, the big question now is “Why do eBay allow so many “Guides” on their website to continue to write that All-Region = copies ? I don’t know the answer to that one, but I know it’s untrue.

Disney’s Beauty & The Beast on VCD (Genuine)

Disney do not market VCD’s in the UK, and VCD is a format that is often associated with counterfeit, however in Asia Disney do market VCD’s and this is a very good example of a good quality genuine Disney VCD.

This one arrived from the Philippines, it’s distributed by VIVA Video INC.

The compression used on VCD’s is ideally suited to animation, and the picture and sound quality of this is really very good.  VCD’s can take much more abuse than a DVD, so they are ideal for Kids who tend to be a bit rough when handling discs.  It will look a bit blocky if you view it on a 42″ TV, but on smaller screens up to about 29″ there is little noticeable  difference between this and a DVD for the average viewer.

Beauty and the Beast is quite rare now on any format, if you are a collector you should add some VCD’s to your collection as this is a great title to start with.

It does include extras, which many VCD’s do not.

Pacific Marketing is currently my favorite Asian distributor of genuine Disney DVDs, and this is a very good example of a high quality genuine release which can be bought in Asia for as little as £3.

It’s incredible to UK and European buyers that real Disney DVDs can be that cheap, but it’s true.  Pacific Marketing is only one of a handful of licenced distributors of Disney DVDs, but  for me they represent the best quality at a good price.

This edition features all the extras, including Music Video, Games & Backstage Features.  It has only English writing on the front cover, and a mixture of English and Thai on the back cover, it has English and other languages such as Korean, Manadrin etc and as with all DVDs any subtitles can be switched off easily with the subtitle button on the DVD remote.

Like so many new releases of Disney DVDs this is copy protected, so results on PC’s and some DVD recorders may vary, though it plays on my Mac it does not play on my Panasonic DVR recorder (but these days very few new titles do!).

All in all this is great value for money.  A few sellers on eBay and on the ‘net are selling this import version, if you are buying on eBay make sure that the seller mentions the distributor as “Pacific Marketing and Entertainment Group and the barcode number is 8856021 035307, if in doubt ask because we all know that eBay is a magnet for counterfeit sellers, better to stick to professional sellers on websites.
